When I started this blog I planned on keeping it updated with projects I would be doing through the COLD WINTERY days…but one thing happened, we haven’t had winter yet. One day we had about one inch of snow and it melted in the 50 degree weather the next day. My husband and I have enjoyed winter days setting on the back porch and watching all the birds that have hung around this winter. Danny says I am feeding at least two limits worth of Dove, counted 18 Gold Finches, Virginia Rails, Cardinals and more. I was able to save a Mrs. Cardinal this winter. She flew right into the back window and landed under our picnic table. I very slowly went out and picked her up, she was dazed and her little foot clung to my finger. I set her down in the grass and watched to see if she was going to be OK. A little bit later she was able to fly away. Such a delicate being.
We will be having baby calves in a couple of weeks and then through the summer. This will call for more time on the back porch to watch the calves run and play. Watching a calve being born, and then within minutes stand on those wobbly legs going right where it is suppose to for milk, is amazing. God truly made each creature smart in their own way. We sold our big bull, as the years were telling us we needed to bring in a new blood line. This year my bottle baby, Payday, will become a daddy to our herd. Oh my goodness.
Guess I better go out and get some ground broke up in our garden area. We just plant tomatoes, sweet corn, peppers and pumpkins. We are tying a different seed this year for the pumpkins, as we keep trying to get carving pumpkins for our grandchildren and haven’t had good luck. I end up with small pumpkins to decorate with. Hope you are enjoying some sunshine and I will see you later.
